LISA MIDDLETON'S PLAN TO
LOWER COSTS AND CUT TAXES FOR THE MIDDLE CLASS & WORKING FAMILIES
Middle Class Tax Cuts
Create a new state tax credit for first-time homebuyers to create a path to homeownership for working families.
Create a newborn child tax credit to ease the financial burden on new parents.
Oppose tax increases on the middle class and working families.
Make the state's disaster relief tax deduction permanent, so families can deduct losses after a fire, extreme heat, or other major weather event.

Lower Costs for Working Families
Crack down on price gouging by big pharmaceutical companies to reduce healthcare and drug costs for seniors and families.
Increase California's energy supply to reduce costs at the pump and at home.
Remove outdated regulations and barriers to construction so we can build the housing our growing region needs to reduce costs.
Support Small Businesses & Create Good Jobs
Create a $10K small business tax credit for entrepreneurs to start a new business and create local jobs.
Cut red tape and help small businesses across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties get state contracts — so our tax dollars are invested back in growing our local economy.

Dear neighbors,
Growing up in a working-class community, my parents' struggle to make ends meet was a constant. There was never anything fancy. We focused on the basics — shelter, food and gas for the car. Today, my son and daughter face the same struggles as they start their young families. I’ve lived the challenges that working families across San Bernardino and Riverside Counties face every day.
The cost of housing, groceries, and energy are going up — and wages are not keeping pace. Unfortunately, Sacramento politicians like my opponent have failed to deliver.
You deserve a State Senator who can stay focused on the basics. A Senator with a plan and the ability to deliver lower costs and lower taxes for the middle class and working families.
This isn't a Democratic issue or a Republican issue. Rising costs weren't created by one party — and it's going to take Democrats, Republicans, and Independents working together to deliver real solutions for our region and the State. I've spent my career working with reasonable people in both parties who face facts and get things done. My start was in my neighborhood. I’m ready to deliver for you and your neighbors across San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
On my watch in Palm Springs — we grew local businesses and created new jobs. As a result, we increased police funding from $23 million to $43 million; fire funding from $16 to $27 million, re-paved every other street and increased our reserves from $32 to over $125 million. I get things done.
My grandparents and parents never had much, but they believed in America, in family, and in hard work. I will take to Sacramento the love of country and work ethic they gave me. I will spend every single day as your State Senator working for your family — to reduce the cost of living, support small businesses, and create good-paying jobs.
